“When midsummer hit, I decided to sign up for an ArtSci Summer Weekend. Originally, I planned to stay home for as long as possible, because I was so nervous about coming down to St. Louis and about college life, but after some soul searching I decided to go for it.  After all, the program sounded like fun and what better way to begin the transition to college than with a weekend on campus? I am so glad I had a change of heart!  I highly recommend attending one of the ArtSci Summer Weekends.  I have such fond memories of my weekend and I made lasting friendships. In fact, some of my closest friends at Wash U are people I met during my weekend.  Additionally, I had the chance to get to know the greater St. Louis community and my Faculty Advisor, which put my mind at ease and instantly made me feel like a part of something important. With my schedule planned out and my courses selected, I spent the rest of the summer getting excited for my first year and my new home.” —Ashley Brosius, junior form Moline, IL

“ArtSci Summer Weekends are a great way to get acquainted with campus, meet other incoming freshmen, and learn about opportunities early. I really enjoyed getting a chance to explore my home for the next four years. The ArtSci RA's were very helpful and I had a better sense of what it was like to be a student on campus from talking to them. I also made a few friends during my ArtSci weekend, which made the transition to college and orientation so much easier!” —Tobi Lee, junior from Franklin, TN

"One of the best decisions I have made at Wash U was attending an ArtSci weekend before my freshman year. I wanted to attend for the early registration, the information from deans about classes, and a chance to experience a college dorm. However, my lasting memories of the experience were the friendships I made and the fun I had. Attending the weekend made me SO much more comfortable in the fall, and I felt like I had a group of friends even before orientation began. I could tell a clear difference between people that had been at an ArtSci weekend and those who hadn't from day 1, based on their level of comfort and belonging. To anyone considering- do not miss this amazing opportunity!" —Sam Moore, junior from Oklahoma City, OK

“I'm so grateful that I chose to attend an ArtSci Summer Weekend last year. I was able to meet incoming freshman like myself at activities like bowling and karaoke and became acquainted with the South 40 and main campus before move-in day. Attending the ArtSci weekend made orientation a lot less stressful because of the familiar faces I recognized, as well as allowed me to register early before the rest of my class which was really helpful.” —Sara Elster, sophomore from Hoffman Estates, IL

“ArtSci weekend was a great experience overall. It was a wonderful opportunity to create friendships that lasted well into college. Coming into college knowing a few familiar faces enabled me to feel at home at Wash U. Also, I developed a keen knowledge of the campus and its layout, which enabled me to know exactly where I was going on my first day of classes as a freshmen. Finally, registering for classes early at ArtSci weekend was extremely beneficial in ensuring that I got into all of the classes which I was interested in, prior to the freshman registration rush in August during Orientation week.” —David Messenger, junior from Bronx, NY
